2021 National Wheelchair Aussie Rules

2021 Wheelchair AFL National Tournament cancelled

Disability Sports Australia (DSA) has announced that the Toyota Wheelchair AFL Nationals, due to be held in Hobart in October, will not go ahead this year.
As hosts of the planned event ParaQuad Tasmania is of course disappointed, but we understand fully and support the decision.
DSA says “given the unpredictability of state border closures and the likelihood of many teams being restricted access, the decision has been made to not hold the 2021 Nationals.”
The decision was made now to “avoid more potential costs and planning for teams.
ParaQuad Tasmania looks forward to working with DSA and the AFL to bring the event to Tasmania in the future.
And don’t forget social Wheelchair Aussie Rules games, organised by ParaQuad Tasmania (for people of all abilities), are on Friday evenings in Ulverstone and Wednesday evenings in Hobart. For more information Contact us at pdst@paraquadtas.org.au
You can play too!

2021 Boccia Australia National Titles

2021 Boccia Australia National Titles cancelled

After lengthy discussion and careful consideration, the Board has made the very difficult decision that the reality of COVID19 makes holding Boccia Australia National Titles in 2021 untenable.

This difficult decision was based on the uncertainty around travel restrictions, and concern for the health of our athletes. We would like to thank ParaQuad Tasmania for all the great preparation work they have done towards organizing what would have been a terrific competition. We look forward to holding the Nationals in Tasmania in the future. A decision will be made later this year about the 2022 Nationals.

BA will now turn our energies to organizing another way of coming together nationally this year – perhaps virtually – stay tuned. Please in the current times care for each other. And don’t forget to watch our Aussie Team in Tokyo – wishing them all the best!
