Healthy habits – something many of us aspire to!

It’s the theme of Men’s Health Week 2023, which is all about raising awareness of and improving men’s physical and mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Why is this important? Statistics show that for a range of reasons, Australian men have poorer health outcomes than women.

Men’s Health Week is coordinated by the Centre for Male Health at Western Sydney University and there are heaps of resources available at the Australian Men’s Health Forum (AMHF) too. The AMHF is the peak body for the men’s health sector and works with other organisations to improve men’s health.

The AMHF has an on-going campaign called Know Your Man Facts. Included in this is:

Some of their facts on exercise:

  • Being active cuts your risk of disease
  • Being active keeps your body and mind healthy

At ParaQuad Tasmania we’re all too aware of the importance of men’s health – men make up around 80% of cases of Spinal Cord Injury.

Many of our members enjoy regular exercise through programs including Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Rugby, AFL Wheelchair, Boccia and Frame Running. The programs are for people with Spinal Cord Injury and physical disability. Sports equipment and coaching are provided.

If you’d like to get involved in our Physical disABILITY Sports Programs, and begin a healthy habit, please get in touch.
