The 2022 Tasmanian Masters Games were held in Northwest Tasmania over the weekend 22-23 October, 2022. ParaQuad Tasmania was involved for the very first time, running a Wheelchair Basketball three on three competition at Ulverstone.

Four teams, Rolling Thunder, Live Wires, The Stonkers and The Wheel Team took to the court for a day of non-stop competition. It was great to see Tasmanian Masters Games President, Steve Martin, take his place amongst the teams.

From the tip off it was a fantastic, well fought and collegial competition, run between four teams over eight games. And it was tight – one of the matches resulted in a draw and the bronze medal game went into overtime.

Here is the final scoreboard:

Gold medal – The Stonkers (Josh Christian, Roberto Giusti, Brad Fisher, Adam Nossiter)

Silver medal – Rolling Thunder (Trent Johnson, Brett Christie, Skye Johnson, Mitch Stretton)

Bronze medal – Live Wires (Griffin Hearn, Joe Chivers, Georgie Gott, Ann Gott)

Well done also to the Wheel Team of Grassy Bryan, Josh Callegari, Ben Winwood and Steve Martin.

Top point scorers for the day were Ben Winwood and Joe Chivers (34 points).

It was wonderful to welcome Jan Bonde, Mayor of the Central Coast Council there too – thank you for presenting the medals.

To the Tasmanian Masters Games Organising Committee, well done on your efforts and for facilitating such a fantastic event. We are already looking forward to the next one!

We loved bringing 3 X 3 wheelchair basketball to the Games and hope everyone involved enjoyed the ride.
