PDS Tasmania has a proud history in AWD table tennis in Australia, winning many medals at junior and senior level at various National Wheelchair Games.
The game is ideal for total integration with only minor service rule changes for wheel chair players which allows players to compete in local able bodied competitions.
Tasmania has produced two Australian representatives over the years:
- The late Doug Free at the Fespic Games in Kobe, Japan in 1989
- Daniel Page at the Southern Cross Games, Sydney 1999, Fespic Games Thailand 1999 and the Fespic Table Tennis Games in Osaka, Japan 2001
Daniel is the only Tasmanian player to win a medal at an International Tournament winning Bronze in the Class 4-5 Teams event with Craig Nolan and Tony Wade at the Southern Cross Games in 1999.
Andrew Browning who resided and trained in Tasmania for some time is a current player in the Australian Paralympic Preparation Squad, Paralympic Preparation Program Table Tennis Australia.
